Freakin' Birthday Weekend

So the Freakin' Weekend came and went. I saw a grand total of two bands. ha. Yeah, I guess birthday weekends can do that to you. It helped I was pumped full of alcohol before going on Friday by my friends, and once at the show my roommate was told she couldn't go back into Exit/In because she was too drunk. Too drunk for Exit/In?! WHATTHEFUCK?! Other things got in the way for the other nights... like a radio show and recovering. I'm a bitch. So yeah. I had a blasty blast on Friday, though. Good friends and good beers made my night and the rest of the weekend. Make sure you check Nashville's Dead for a recap of the wknd along with this week's upcoming shows.

So if you missed my radio show because you were raging at The End on Saturday, you can listen to it all this week. LISTEN Yes, I know you have to play it through Real Player, but you know it's totally worth it! PLAYLIST If you did catch the show, you heard me mention meeting a rad guy named Nic who had a rad punk band back in 1981 called THE ZITS. Click on the link to check out the story of THE ZITS along with a couple mp3s from the 7" he so graciously sent me. It's a perfect punk rock story of a band that lasted all of four months. Thankfully in that short amount of time they scraped together enough cash to put out a piece of wax. I found this obscure mention of THE ZITS on collectorscum.com

That's all I gots for now. Check out this random shit now:

WRVU 1953 - 2010??

New Fall show time: Saturdays 21:00 - 22:00.

SO, if you don't know what's been the talk of the town recently concerning WRVU, here's a brief run down. Vanderbilt Student Communications (the people in charge of WRVU) are considering selling the broadcasting license and making it online radio only. That's the basic info. If you want to read more about it click on this link. http://www.vandymedia.org/wrvu/ If you want to do something about it, you can go to the bottom of the linked page and voice your opinion there. PLEASE LET THEM KNOW HOW YOU FEEL! No one at the station wants to see WRVU die. I will continue to post more info on here as I know it.

I know I said this would be up last night, but.... didn't happen. The show was rando for sure. If you missed it, just plug this link into Real Player and you can listen to my latest show: http://media-srv1.its.vanderbilt.edu/ramgen/wrvu/archive/backchannel.rm

So, here are some links for the videos from last night

Double Rainbow:

Double Rainbow song that I played:

Double Rainbow Auto-Tuned (not played on air):

Antoine Dodson (they rapin' errbody out here) original video:

Antoine's reaction to being efamous (not played on air). Note the fact they censor him saying the word ass, then talk about how he shouldn't be censored from telling his message. WTF?!:

Antoine song I played:

I should write more, but I'm not gonna. Ha. I will leave you with one more video, though. Please vote for this guy tomorrow...

As I mentioned on the show tonight, there's lots of stuff that I'm gonna post. All rando and pointless. Just like life. ha

This is a good review of the last Riverdales record that came out in the fall.

(more on the 27th greatest band of all time) Please don't believe reviews of Tarantula (their newest record). Totally bogus. Just get the album yourself!

Just listened to the Beastie Boys Record Store Day 12" single. Daft Punk samples?! Oh yeah.

I went to Grimey's for a bit, but wasn't there too long. I was at one of the check-points for the first alley-cat of the spring. I just sat outside Yazoo (the new place is great, btw) for a while and drank and chatted with some people from Denmark. It was very "laterly." Then went to a cook-out, drank some more beers, had some food, and ended up calling 911 for the second time in my life. We saw this woman wreck her car by where we were. She was okay, but not excited. We think she hit the gas instead of the brake and she destroyed a sign and almost hit a house. Crazy stuff.
